REGIONAL ROUNDUP News and events from the carpet cleaning industrys leading trade associations nology updates but also for networking opportunities Dont miss out on your chance to be part of the Mid South Professional Cleaners Association and specifically this sure to be outstanding regional meeting Contact Meredith at 828 877 2589 or MeredithFRS@ Yahoo com to join or just get more information Society of Cleaning and Restoration Technicians SCRT Submitted by Debbie Glenn The following is a letter from the Society of Cleaning and Restoration Technicians SCRT president Gary Glenn The semi annual board of directors meeting of the SCRT took place in Atlanta on November 5 The meeting was lively reviewing all that had taken place at the IICRC oops The Clean Trust The topic of discussion was heightened by the fact that President Glenn had polled SCRT membership to get their opinion of the name change which of course was extremely negative The SCRT board felt that it was imperative that they voice the opinions of association members All responses were sent to IICRC TCT President Patrick Winters along with a letter asking the IICRC TCT to revisit and reverse the name change The SCRT will join in any movement started to reverse this decision Until this issue is resolved the website www SCRT org will have The Clean Trust logo but will state also known as Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification IICRC Following the resignation of Tom Sherman as vice president of membership Cara Agerbeck was elected as the new vice president of membership Appreciation was expressed to Tom for all of his great service and we still look forward to working with him as Ohio Chapter president Cara is on the management team at Abatement Technologies in Atlanta and has been an SCRT board member since 2010 The SCRT board of directors also approved the appointment of Debbie Glenn as the new administrator of the SCRT following the retirement of Patti Savelle who has Professional Association of Cleaning Restoration PACR Submitted by Jillian Olson The Professional Association of Cleaning Restoration PACR is excited to be moving into 2012 The new 2012 PACR board of directors will be meeting the first week of January to discuss new education networking opportunities Power Meetings and more that will be available to all PACR members including events in Omaha NE and Salt Lake City UT Classes coming to Denver will include an AMRT class and a meth lab cleanup class Look for more details on these and other upcoming events in next months Cleanfax magazine or at www ProfessionalAssociationOfCleaningAndRestoration org Mid South Professional Cleaners Association MSPCA Submitted by Meredith Silliman The Mid South Professional Cleaners Association MSPCA is pleased to announce that our upcoming March regional meeting is already firmly scheduled Sun Belt USA has generously offered their facilitys use so we will be meeting Friday and Saturday March 2 3 in Raleigh NC Our group strongly believes in the benefit of participating in regional meetings not only to be kept up to date with industry and tech trade associations For more information on this topic visit www cleanfax com Association of Rug Care Specialists ARCS Submitted by Bill Brown The Association of Rug Care Specialists ARCS continues to advance the art and science of rug care and educate rug care professionals There are two association educational programs on tap for the first half of 2012 An entry level rug care course will be offered to ARCS members and non members in early 2012 with specific dates announced shortly Three to four online sessions will cover topics such as basic rug identification chemicals used in rug care and efficient and effective rug washing The ARCS will also conduct its second tour of a state of the art rug washing facility in April 2012 The hands on learning event will feature courses for both recent entrants into rug care and more experienced rug care professionals looking to expand their business The event will be open to all rug care professionals Information on both educational programs can be found at www RugCareSpecialists com Looking back to November 2011 16 members of the rug care community participated in the ARCS sponsored Navajo rug tour Participants studied 14 types of Navajo rugs and gained a deeper appreciation of the Navajo nation and its culture CLEANFAX COM January 2012 CM Cleanfax 39
